Summary Report:

In Abu Sir, Egypt, you find many holes drilled into diorite rocks. Diorite has a temper of 8.4 (Mohssche hardness scale) and is thus even harder than granite. That means, that the workers had tools which are harder than 8.4 – which would be, for example, diamond. You can clearly prove the ancient egyptian core drill technology (see pictures). Sir Flinders Petrie published a granite core which was made by the ancient egyptians using a tubular drill and the concentric lines found on this ancient granite core are very similar to the ones that can be found on core produced by a modern mason s diamond tubular drill. (see the infos in the document “Ancient Egyptian Stone Drilling”).

Excerpt from Erich von Dänikens Book “Antworten”: “…With the core drillings at ancient ruins it is proven that “the ancients” had techniques at their disposal that have only been rediscovered in our time…”

Did the ancient Egyptians possess devices that were on par with our state-of-the-art technology and if, how or from whom did they obtain this knowledge or technology? What was the purpose of these dilled holes in the diorite rocks?

Other Facts Details:

The document Ancient Egyptian Stone Drilling is co-authored by A. John Gwinnett and shows the scholarly controversy about the topic. The document details the disagreement between the two eminent egyptologists Sir Flinders Petrie and A. Lucas about how the ancient egyptians made the core-drillings in the very hard diorite and granite rocks.
