Description:

This mysterious object can be found in the Egyptian Museum of Kairo. The Sabu disc is an object from the 1st dynasty, ca. 3000 to 2800 B.C., which was found in 1936 in the Mastaba S3111 in the north of the necropolis Sakkara. It has been found in the tomb of the ancient Egyptian official Sabu, after whom the object is also named. The function and meaning of the carefully crafted natural stone vessel is still unclear. Officially it is said to have been a vase. Interesting is the fact, that it is made from slate, but slate is a layered stone, which easely breaks, so how have the constructors carved this object, and for what purpose it was build? A vase…?!?
