Description:

Roman Dodecahedrons are small hollow objects ( 4 to 11cm) most made out of copper with 12 pentagonal sides, each side has a hole with different diameter. 100 of these Dodecahedrons have been found mostly in Europe ( especially Germany and France) at Gallo-roman sides. They date back to the 2nd – 4th century CE. There are no records of these objects so the purpose is still unknown. The Dodecahedron is one of the five platonic solids, it stands for the element ether. Did they have an astronomical function? Or were they used to measure distances. A relatively new theory is that the Dodecahedrons were used for knitting gloves. It is a very wide range of possibilities, but we still dont know.
