A fascinating collection of jewellery made of ostrich eggshells is being assembled by archeologists working in the world famous Denisova cave in Altai region. Ostriches in Siberia? 50,000 years ago? Yes, it seems so. Or, at least, their eggshells made it here somehow.
In a month that has seen disclosures of the fossil of a tropical parrot in Siberia from at least five million years ago in the Miocene era, this elegant Paleolithic chic shows that our deep history (some 2,000 generations ago, give or take) contains many unexpected surprises. Read more

In the Chaco Canyon (Mexico), People of the ancient Pueblo Culture decorated their Houses with six-digit handprints and footprints. Researchers suggest that Beings with an extra finger and/or toe were important and respected in this Society. According to National Geographic, researchers were aware of polydactyl (many Fingers) among the Pueblo Culture for many Years. Several skeletal remains with extra toes and fingers have also been found. The Research-Team, led by anthropologist Patricia Crown of the University of New Mexico, also sought to determine how common polydactyl was among the Pueblo People. The more than 2,000 Year old Paracas Skulls on display at Museo Regional de Ica in the City of Ica in Peru.
In 1928, the Peruvian Archaeologist Julio Tello found more than 300 of these elongated Skulls in a massive and elaborate Graveyard containing tombs filled with the Remains of Individuals with the largest elongated skulls found anywhere in the World. According to first DNA-Tests done by Geneticists, the Skulls have mitochondrial DNA “with mutations unknown in any Human, Primate, or animal known so far”.
Now, a second round of DNA-Testing has been completed and the Results are still controversial. The Tests have shown that the Skulls seem to have European and middle Eastern Origin. Read more

A group of climbers on an expedition in the Himalaya Mountains, have stumbled upon a complexe of caverns that seem to have recently surfaced after a series of violent avalanches in the region.
