The Stanly Hotel is famous as a place with paranormal activity occurence. This is probably one of the reasons why the movie “The Shining” by Stephen Kings has been filmed in this hotel. On the 21st of February 2006 the TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) founders and paranormal investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson made an investigation with their ghost hunters equipment like EMF meters (Electromagnetic Field), special cameras and motion sensors. The results of their investigation has been published in their series “Ghost Hunters” Season3, Episode 5.
Ready in the beginning the concierge of the hotel Billy Ward narrated a story, where he said, when Stephen King and his wife put their luggage at the Stanley hotel in the room 217. They came back to the room after about 45 minutes and their clothes were put in the dresser drawers and the bags were stacked in the closet, which remained a great mystery because nobody entered the room.
The 4th floor is claimed to be the most active area in the Stanly Hotel where visitors often hear playing children, which Stephen King has incorporated in his movie “the Shining”. The room 401 is claimed to be the most hunted place in the hotel. Many terrifying stories were narrated by the concierge.
Steve Gonsalves and Brian Harnois did some EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) analysis and heard both strange sounds of a moving door handle although nobody was there.
In Jason Hawes room 401 in where he stayed overnight the closet door opened and closed mysteriously at night, spooky sounds could be heard and also a glass broke suddenly in a strange way.
In another scene, inside room 1302 lead investigator Grand Wilson, investigator Dave Tango and camera man Kendall Whelpton were getting shocked as never before in their ghost hunting career after a table suddenly lifted or jumped up and fell down again and a chair was slammed against the wall with a lot of force, which they could feel with great intensity.
Later on investigator Brian Hapnois and tech manager Steve Gonsalves heard strange piano music in the music room while doing measurements with EMF and EVP.
When lead investigator Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson were investigating room 401 where Jason did overnight before they suddenly also started to hear music in the room.
In room 217 EMF analysis were made from tech manager Steve Gonsalves and fluctuating EMF anomalies could be measured at the ceiling in combination with decreasing temperature, a free floating concentrated EMF spike reading could be done which is very rare. The crew gets excited as they rarely experience such clear fluctuations and were able to feel coldness at particular spots inside the room.
At the employee passageway lead investigator Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson heared and were able to record a strange voice which said hello and started to respond to their communication. Then the voice started to laugh in a creepy way around them, as if the sound didnt originate from a specific source.
Many further occurring anomalous phenomenons were being observed, analysed and well documented in this episode at the Stanley Hotel and well measured with their equipment like EVP recorder (electronic voice phenomenon), EMF meter (electro magnetic fields reading) and camera footage.
Paranormal activity is seldom professionally analysed with appropriate equipment nor documented well, which may be a reason it isnt regarded as real or respected as true a scientific field. Over the years the TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) could collect and document several exceptional cases like the Stanly Hotel, where real paranormal anomalies were measured through EMF readings and EVP recordings. Such cases in combination with other paranormal cases like psychic mediums talking to deceased or cases of exorcism could be regarded as proof that ghosts or other dimensional entities exist.
