Prehistoric rock paintings can be found all around the globe. Many of them show the animal- and plant- world from the perspective of the indigenous people of the time. However, there are also extremely strange depictions that cannot be explained in the conventional way.
Henri Lhote was a French explorer and discoverer of prehistoric cave paintings. He discovered several hundred of painted walls in the Tassil Mountains in the Sahara with many thousands of representations of animals and humans, including figures with short, elegant skirts. They carry staffs and indefinable square boxes on the staffs. In addition to animal paintings, we are amazed by beings in a kind of diving suit or even beings with a halo of rays. The great Mars-god, as Lhote named the giant drawing, was originally six metres high.
In the Book “Erinnerungen an die Zukunft”, Erich von Däniken writes: “… It seems to us, without stretching the imagination too much, that the great god of Mars was depicted in a space or diving suit. On his bulky, plump shoulders lies a helmet that is connected to the torso by some kind of joint. Where the mouth and nose belong, the helmet shows various slits. One would readily believe in a coincidence or even in the representational fantasy of the prehistoric “artist” if this depiction were unique. But in the Tassili some of these crude, identically equipped figures can be found, and very similar images have also been found on rock faces in the USA, as well as in Australia and other places around the globe…”.
Who or what were these strange beings (some of them with halos) in their “space or diving suits”, depicted in the prehistoric rock drawings? Archaeologists often claim that these depictions represent ancient “gods”. But who were these so-called “gods” and what impressed our ancestors so much to depict it in detail on the rock faces?
