Summary Report:

In 1999, Hubert Zeitlmair sponsored a dive in the area off the coast of the Maltese town of St. Julians to look for submerged temples. On July 13th of that year, Shaun and Kurt Arrigo discovered an underwater megalithic site that became the basis of Zeitlmairs career, which he named Gebel Gol-Bahar – Maltese for “Stones in the Sea.” Zeitlmair reported this find at the 1999 Paleo-Astronauts conference and returned to Malta later that year as well as in 2000 to further “study” the Gebel Gol-Bahar site and take detailed measurements of an area he claimed to be a megalithic temple.

Because of this information, Ramon Zürcher from RAMAR and his researcher colleague Thorsten Morawietz, wanted to know it exactly and started an own underwater expedition to document the widespread underwater areas of Gebel Gol-Bahar and Belt Fil-Bahar. They explored and surveyed gigantic megaliths and cart ruts below sea level off the coast of Malta. They could definitely prove man-made structures under water, as cutted and stepped stones, which regular ocean erosion would not do.

Since no one builds underwater, these man-made structures indicate an age of over 10,000 years. These megalithic structures were built before the sea level rose by 30-50 meters. According to the experts, after the last ice age.
We will dive even further in Malta and take a closer look at these structures. Here, among other mysteries, we are mostly interested in a gigantic block, which has the dimensions of 19 meters length, 15 meters width and 2.5 meters height. This giga block would exceed the dimensions of the “Stone of the south” in Baalbek, Lebanon. The calculated weight of this underwater block is 1900 tons. The Baalbek stone is “only” 1400 tons.
They have also found a parallel with Göbekli Tepe in Turkey.
This site is said to be the oldest cult site of mankind with about 12000 years and was covered with stones and sand on purpose. This age would fit to the underwater structures in Malta.

In Malta Zürcher and Morwietz found a L-pillar: The broken off piece at the side fits perfectly to the stone and have been in a T-pillar like in Göbekli Tepe once.

The first findings are spectacular and must be further investigated in more diving expeditions, as the area is huge. We at RAMAR will keep you updated.
